Drag'n Wash on Steam or itch.io: Which Store Should You Buy From?
Same game, two official stores. Steam adds controller support and cloud saves; itch.io gives installers plus a Steam key. Germany and Indonesia must use itch.io.
Short answer: in Germany or Indonesia you have no choice — it is itch.io. Elsewhere, pick Steam if you care about cloud saves, plug-and-play controllers and platform features, and pick itch.io if you want an installer you can back up yourself. Either way you do not lose the Steam version, because the itch.io purchase includes a Steam key.
Both stores sell the same game. There is no content difference anywhere. The differences are delivery method, extra platform features, and regional availability.

“If I buy on itch, do I lose the Steam version?”
No — and this is the most common misconception. The itch.io page states it plainly: buying there gives you both the download files and a Steam key. Wanting the game in your Steam library and wanting a standalone installer are compatible goals in a single order. For players in Germany and Indonesia it is also the only practical route.
How the regional restrictions work
Steam’s own rating data marks Germany as unavailable, marks IGRS (Indonesia) as unavailable, and rates Brazil’s DEJUS entry as 18. In the itch.io comments, several German-speaking players explain that the Steam store page will not load for them and that they bought on itch.io instead.
To be precise about what is known: the developer has not explained either restriction, and this page does not guess at the legal reasoning. It reports the rating outcomes and where players actually went. Other countries are not itemised in that data, so check your local store page rather than extrapolating.
Match the store to your situation
- In Germany or Indonesia: itch.io, and there is no second official option.
- You rely on cloud saves or like controllers working instantly: Steam.
- You want a backup-friendly installer: itch.io, plus you still get the Steam key.
- You want to support the developer beyond the minimum: itch.io allows paying above the minimum price.
- You just want it in your library and forgotten: either works, and Steam is usually cheaper while a sale runs.
Prices, discounts and regional ratings all move, so every figure here is dated 15 September 2026. For current pricing see release date and price; for hardware and handheld support see system requirements and Steam Deck.
Sources and check date
Platform features, price and regional ratings come from the official Steam store page and Steam’s API data. The Steam key, installer sizes, minimum price and tags come from the itch.io store page and purchase page. The German players’ regional reports come from itch.io comments and are community information. All checked 15 September 2026.
